FAQ

Okay, all funny things aside, I’m here to help you with professional advice on the most common FAQ's.

Q. I have problems down there with ingrown hairs. How can you help?

A. This is the number one problem in the bikini area. Rejoice! This means we have lots of information and products for you that actually work.

The first line of attack for ingrown hairs is to exfoliate using the right products and use a special ingrown hair moisturizing lotion. Find these products and others that you’ll love all listed under the ingrown hair tab.

Here’s your prescription:

You’ll need 3 things.

  1. A physical exfoliator like the Merben dry brushes, BushBalm dry brushes,or FUR wash cloths to use daily.

  2. An exfoliating scrub such as FUR Silk Scrub or Bush Balm’s Sweet Escape Body Polish to use 2-3 times a week.

  3. An ingrown hair treatment lotion such as FUR oil, FUR ingrown concentrate, PFB Vanish,or Alexandria phenomenal.

Q. I have problems down there with scars. Can you help me?

A. Scars are a real thing whether they’re from acne, ingrown hairs, or overstretching of skin to name a few. Take a deep breath. These can be diminished. Exhale. Good.

Your line of attack will include 5 things.

  1. Stop puncturing, picking, and squeezing. Sorry girls. I have to say that because we all love to get at these things. My clients often tell me about how satisfying it is to get those pesky ingrown hairs, pimples, and blackheads. Gotta confess, I couldn't agree more, BUT they should be done by a professional with the right single use implements and techniques.

  2. A physical exfoliator like the Merben dry brushes, BushBalm dry brushes, or FUR wash cloths to use daily.

  3. A detoxifying and rejuvenating mud mask like Alexandria's Mud Puddle. This is Hungarian mud which improves skin texture and contains 60% silicon dioxide which is the building block of collagen from skin to bone. It helps bond collagen and skin tissue and also deeply penetrates tissues to clear stored toxins.

  4. A special lotion such as BushBalm's Bermuda Oil, PFB Vanish with Chromabright or Alexandria's Phenomenal. These work to brighten the appearance of scars with vitamins and brighteners.

  5. A good massaging technique. Yep, 2 of these 5 prescribed things are free! You want to massage these scars, especially if they’re fresh. Massaging your scars is important because it keeps the tissue around the mark loose so it doesn't “stick” to the tissue underneath. This helps prevent scar tissue development. Massage in a circle, horizontally, vertically and by pinching deep and pulling out. Check Instagram for a “how to” video.

P.S., Did you know some aestheticians ask me to perform vagacials? It’s exactly what it sounds like - a facial for your vagina. Check your local area for an expert in this field (and no, frat boys don’t count as experts).

Q. I have problems down there with hyperpigmentation. What can I do?

A. Hyperpigmentation can happen for different reasons. This is when there’s discoloration of the skin, lighter or darker. It can be caused by genetics, scars from eczema, acne, psoriasis, or hormonal changes. Either way, this is common and we have some specially formulated products for you. You might be a rule breaker at heart but you must carefully follow label directions for these products. Please do not use DIY concoctions for treatment. Some DIY treatments can cause severe irritation and burns. I’ve seen them in my practice and they make matters much worse. Knowledge is key! Don’t do your hoo-ha dirty like that, after all it’s done for you!

Here's your prescription for hyperpigmentation:

  1. A physical exfoliator like the Merben dry brushes, BushBalm dry brushes,or FUR wash cloths to use daily.

  2. A special lotion such as BushBalm's Bermuda Oil, PFB Vanish with Chromabright or Alexandria's Phenomenal. These contain vitamins and brighteners that work to brighten the appearance of scars. Use in the evenings.

  3. A hydrator such as FUR oil or Alexandria restore. Use in the mornings.

Q. I often get razor burn and it causes redness and spots.  Do you have products that soften skin and hair?

A. Yes, good old razor burn! It ruins days at the pool and has fueled the beach cover-up industry for decades! This is a fun one because EVERYONE has experienced this.

Steps to help you shave with maximum glide:

1.Regularly moisturize. Yes, daily!  Use FUR oil or Alexandria Restore.

  1. Use shaving cream. Good quality shaving cream such as FUR Shave Cream provides a protective barrier between your razor and your skin for the ultimate glide – like when your scissors hit the sweet spot on wrapping paper.

  2. Don't use old blades! Let me say it louder for the ladies in the back: DO NOT USE OLD BLADES! Better yet, use the beautiful Rose Gold Safety Razor made with brilliant double-edged blades. By using refill blades, you get a super close shave. Psst… check out the environmentally conscious box. It’s a win-win!

  3. Finish with FUR Stubble Cream for a soothing and cooling aftershave.

Try these kits on top of a regular moisturizing routine.

Q. I have trouble with PH Balance. Is there something out there for me?

A. YASSS! You know this is a regular problem for us ladies. Given the things our vaginas do on a regular basis (like birth humans, shed blood, and survive trips to pound town), this skin needs some extra love and care. The pH balance for a women's vulva (external skin outside the vagina) averages at 4.0.

Here's your prescription to keep that in check:

Wash your delicate panties with unscented Soak. It’s made with plant derived and renewable ingredients. It’s also biodegradable, phosphate-free, dye-free, and sulphate-free. Sound too good to be true? Think again!

You can also use Scentless for your sensitive side. Scentless keeps your hand-washables (and sensitive skin) clean and fragrance-free, just like Mother Nature intended.
